Biography
Giorgi Mkurnalidze-Cornaro is a contemporary Georgian painter working in mixed media on paper. His practice traces the weight of memory, the ruins of ideology and the private life of objects that outlast their makers.
Working almost exclusively at 40 × 60 cm, Mkurnalidze-Cornaro treats the sheet of paper as a chamber — a room in which a single figure, a single artefact or a single sentence can carry the whole argument. His titles collide innocence with catastrophe ("Illustration of a Childhood Apocalypse"), history with prophecy ("Constructivism will save us, but first it must die"), and are read alongside the surface as part of the work. He lives and paints in Tbilisi.
